Blah Days

I decided I needed to spiff the place up for all the visiting that's about to land on us. I'd tossed out my hanging baskets last year at the end of the season, because I knew we were moving. I had no plans for anything in the garden. I've got canalillies planted all around the house, they'll do just fine. After reading a posting on the CT the other night, I decided I needed to do it anyway. I just don't realize how depressing it can be without the blooms. Anyway, I went out and spent $20 on several flats and potted them in my good pots, that I'd put away. The front of the house looks vastly cheerier. I may even take some pictures tonight, after the lawn gets mowed. We tore apart the screen door Jerry was given and repainted everything and changed out the screen and put it together with good nails. It looks great and gives the back door a very finished look. I am guessing we are here until the end of summer. After all of my planting and potting, we'd better damned well be!

I think I will weed a bit tonight and prune back the trees. Give it a finished touch.

Love of my life will be home a couple of days prior to graduation, so I'd like to get as much as possible done, so he's not stuck catching up the hard stuff. It's likely to be so hot by then too. Last night at the firehouse, Eddie told us that he'd have his son come over a day or two prior to grad and mow our back lot. This will be great! Then we can have a nice set up out back and the guys can all go play in the back lot without being in our way. I think I am going to buy a shade tent. The ones with no sides. Something to make for a nice sitting area.

It's so gorgeous outside right now, and my porch looks so pretty with all the pots planted. I am so glad I did it. I had no idea how much I needed it! :)

To make it all so sad and empty, we had to put Godzilla (our cat) down yesterday. When I adopted him last summer, he was so malnourished and so behind the powercurve. I knew he was sick and would fight. I just did not expect it this fast. He was wormed back then, and properly. But I think he never got past it. He's been on the advantix, since that time and still had issues. Last week he looked bad, then the bleeding started. The vet gave him meds and it should have boosted his system. For a day or two it did. Yesterday, I stepped out and he came over to me, he was so ill. I realized it's not worked. Just night before last and yesterday morning, he'd gone downhill so badly. He weighed 6.2 lbs yesterday, down from his 14.5 of two weeks ago. Poor baby. He was just a year old, as of May 1. Beastie Badass and Sassy Kiddie are not affected. Beastie Badass (Brimstone) is only really about 4 months old and he's healthy as ever. I am sure poor Zilla just never recovered from as a baby. At 4 months old, Zilla was 2 lbs. Anyway, our hearts are broken. I'm going to really miss him. He was such a love of a cat.

Well, I've done so little today, I need to get back to looking busy! LOL
