Just Peachy Keene!

Well, it's almost over, this move. It's been an up and down journey from beginning to end. This week, my furniture comes and we finish setting up the house. I will be so glad to sleep in my bed again and use my washing machine. I am getting to know way too many people at the Laundromat. LOL

We got on the road from Roland In September (20) and went to my parents for a couple days then to my mother in laws in Indiana. My girlie cat stayed at my parents and lost lots of weight. These cats have been through a 2 month ringer in this move. Brimmy went with us to my mother in law's, Sammy the dog went too. We had an interesting (to say the least) visit up there. I also got to meet my husbands other brother who is much older than him. He was wonderful. His wife and I got along like old friends. It was great. Prince Sexy Bitch (my oldest son) just loved his Uncle Donny. (He already thought Uncle Rick walked on water. Uncle Donny got deemed "The coolest guy I've ever met" (Donny plays in a band and is hugely talented. He taught sexy bitch a few new tricks and really took him under his wing, spoiling the crap out of him.) Donny told Jennings he was wrong, he was the "OLDEST, coolest guy he'd ever meet!"

We had a great time as the week passed on. I hated leaving. I really love the area my husband is from. The people are really good people, the area is gorgeous.

Anyway, we spent another week or so with my parents and had to really bite the bullet. Love of my life, at my prompting, signed up for three classes on line to get them knocked out. I knew the subject matter of two classes and told him I'd assist where needed. It turned out to be a nightmare. He started the one class (the one I'd never done--Windows Networks) and realized he was not up to speed as he should have been, he may as well have been reading Latin. The other two classes were work load intensive, we averaged about 6 hours a day on them. We finally found the best way to go was to have him review all of the materials and then we'd sit in my dad's office and I'd type as he reviewed. The courses were 6 weeks long, and more often than not, each week had 2 papers per class due, aside from the assignments. He ended up with 2 A's and a B. The one A, was in the Wicked Windows class. We killed ourselves with that one. He fully expected to fail it. The last three weeks of the class we had no Internet and were living 45 miles out from post, so we'd get the homework done and then drive in and post it. In the last two weeks there were tons of team projects that had to be done, so we were at the library all the time. I know the Library staff thought we'd moved in. :)

Anyway, it's all done, it's over...The last day of class, we ran out of time and missed getting to Housing to talk to them. It was 4:50 PM on a Friday and we decided to make a mad dash over to housing to see if we couldn't get bumped a little higher up the list (We were #12). Anyway, we got there as they were closing and they brought us in and talked to us. Sainted as they all are over there, we got an awesome house that night. I left their office numb, I was so excited. The next morning we drove over to sign the lease. It is in a great neighborhood. Most everyone around us is about our age and have kids within our kids age ranges. There's a park right behind our house, Little Man loves it.

So, this week we get our household goods, our beds, our chairs, couch...TV, Cordless phones and my computer (I miss my baby--been stuck on the love of my life's laptop.) Washer and dryer, more towels, other clothes....can you tell I am missing my stuff?

Love of my life has his garage set up, made his space for his table saw, and got the peg boards all set up for his tools. He's missed his wood shop in a big way. I can't wait to set up my stained glass area and maybe get started on building my sand blasting station. It's gonna be cool. I think he still misses the fire department stuff. He was always like a kid in a candy store on the fire dept. I was hoping he'd find a volunteer one to join here. It just fits him.

For now, he's so busy. He's been working late nights. He's taking over as 1SG this week for him company. It's been uphill all the way. The new unit, the new approach looks like it's going to be really a learning adventure. Later in our lives, we'll look back at this as a changing point. For now, it just looks like work. I am going to get involved very fast here too. I was going to wait until we were settled to start my classes, but I think I will sign up for a couple this week.

So, that's it. We're here, we're weary but eager to get it going. it ain't Kansas, but we a Toto! :)
