Christmas at Waterworld

Man, Christmas has been a fiasco this year. I am so glad it's over.

Little man got all his little heart desired. I tried to stay theme on it all. He got Rescue Hero toys with set up, and a Leapfrog system. He really loves the Leapfrog. He finally figured it out last night, and spent hours in here by himself, watching his shows and playing his Leapfrog. We took him to See Polar Express on Christmas Eve, then came home and unwrapped gifts. It was a great evening. He got the Santa gifts in the morning and those are what started the LONG day.

Prince Sexy Bitch got his heart's desire too. I took him shopping and let him pick out what he wanted--so, of course he was happy. He was very unhappy when I took it home and wrapped it though. :) He's really had a killer good Christmas this year. He originally wanted an Electric Guitar. My mom and dad said they'd go in half with us. We found a very expensive one on sale through Musicians Friend and my mom and dad ordered it. When it came time to pay, my mom said that they were paying our half because the love of my life had worked so hard on my dad's rental house and would not accept payment. So, we felt like we did not buy him a main gift. On top of that, it was ordered in September and in October he asked for it early. My mom said it was fine, since that was when we were there last and not together for Christmas. So he got it early. We got here, things got settled and we started looking for gifts to buy him. I replaced his Xbox Remote, he got it early...So we went to walmart and I let him pick out some electronics and (he was so sure he'd get them early too) I put them all on layaway! LOL. I think his little nose got all bent out of shape over that one. Anyway, we went shopping last week and I bought him some more clothes and wrapped them before he could get his mitts on them. He sulked all week. :) I sure feel good! He ended up with about $200 in cash, so I guess he is going to buy another guitar. This one will be a larger Acoustic. You can never own enough guitars! :)

Well, Christmas day--it all went downhill from there. I got up sick as a dog from the Pizza the night before, at 5 AM. I went down to sit and read and take something. About the time I thought I'd got back to sleep, Little Man starts yelling for me. I made him get his dad up before he could come down and see the Santa Gifts. They come down, the gifts get opened, I get to work on Dinner for the day (Pies and such) and things are going like clock work. It was all so nice. I was so far ahead fo the game. Love of my life goes to put the 5 gallon bottle of water on the cooler stand and it slips and falls and shatters all over the office floor. Love of my life goes nut's with anger at himself. I get proactive and get the rug cleaner out to suck it all up. I kept my cool and good mood.

We were getting close to dinner, I pulled out the eggs to make the deviled & Fontanella eggs--they are awful. Love of my life decides to hold up dinner so I can make more. So I did. They came out fine...Mood is still good at this point....We open the breadmaker to pull the fresh baked bread out--OMIGOSH, it looked like a failed science experiment. Let's just say, it did not make it to the table. (Reminder: Never try something new on Christmas day) Then we make it through dinner...it's all still good on the mood front.

We go up to do a couple of small projects upstairs, while we're all in the mood for it. (Splitting cable so the kids get cable in their rooms.) Things get bad, to worse--mostly frustrating. We finish up after 2 hours and come down to have Pie and ice cream...And it starts to go downhill.

The sinks are filled to the brim with nasty water. My plumbing is clogged. The kitchen floor is covered in water. The dishwasher caused it. My counters are covered with the next load of dishes and greasy water. We get most of it cleaned up, work on the plumbing as a family project--because it takes all of us to get it together. We get the sinks drained, and the pipes pop from underneath the sink, everything is flooded again--and I AM ALL WET. We clean again. It went on and on. We got it to a minimally working work point and gave up the ghost and decided to leave it for housing to come deal with the rest of it. We decide we are all dying for the pie--I go to cut into it, and it's soupy. The pies cooked for 20 minutes longer than I'd planned and were still uncooked. I was livid. I snap. I got mad...I wanted to break dishes and scream. Suffice to say, I still have all the same dishes I had, but I am not anywhere near as sane as I was three days ago. I do not know if you recover that kind of grey matter loss.

Anyway, pies got rebaked--and OMIGOD were they good the next day...Water got dried up, porch was flooded too, we just didn't realize it. Rugs are all wet out back...but the Waterworld Christmas is over!
